The Event Sales Manager will assess and conceptualize clients’ needs for a variety of meetings and events and make all arrangements necessary to execute the client’s desired vision and goal. This person will drive sales by building relationships with vendors, clients, and staff to manage and execute The Kitchen Restaurant Group events program. Provide support to management teams to ensure successful implementation of all group dining and special events. Assist with planning, organization, and training for events programs in emerging markets and new restaurant openings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients to assess and understand their needs for the event; areas of discussion and consultation include food, beverages, meeting rooms, signage, programs, music, display areas, and other specialized requirements.
  • Manage all administrative duties and details associated with the event including financial operations, distribution of promotional materials, and responding to inquiries. Ensure financial accuracy with event billing, commission reporting, and other accounting procedures.
  • Ensure proper planning for all events, including building business, compiling prices lists, securing contracts, prompt and vigilant guest relations and correspondence, and event execution.
  • Control cadence and pars for Full Restaurant Buy-outs (FBOs) as determined by home office.
  • Assist with implementation and successful roll-out of events-related policy changes.
  • Identify objectives, strategies, and action plans to meet event goals and improve sales.
  • Deliver genuine hospitality to our guests so they are compelled to return and recommend.
  • Describe our restaurant with enthusiasm, pride, and passion; celebrate every shift with energy and a can-do attitude.
  • Work with the General Managers, Executive Chefs, and respective management teams on event sales, logistics and menus.
  • Promote teamwork amongst hourly staff and management by displaying hospitality, creativity, trust, dependability and respect.
  • Build effective relationships across departments, foster and promote a harmonious working environment which is conducive to high employee morale, productivity, and effectiveness; create an environment of accountability and excellence.
  • Provide regular reporting on competitive set analyses, sales activity, forecasting, sales and marketing campaigns, and additional reporting as agreed upon or requested.
  • Arrange calls and meetings with restaurant managers as needed for successful implementation of the events program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Marketing

In addition to Event Sales, the Event Sales Manager will manage marketing for The Kitchen Restaurant Group. This includes:

  • Work closely with the Executive Team to align The Kitchen Restaurant Group’s brand development goals.
  • Work closely with management to develop social media and digital media strategies.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of company websites and social media pages.
  • Work to consistently communicate a cohesive The Kitchen Restaurant Group story and voice through content, events, and all other brand opportunities.
  • Represent The Kitchen Restaurant Group through external parties such as media, stakeholders, and potential clients, and build strategic partnerships through those resources.
  • Activate targeted sales and marketing campaigns in respective markets, delegate specific projects and accountability parameters for on-the-ground sales efforts on behalf of local planners and in-restaurant teams.
  • Establish relationships with event centers, tourist groups, chambers of commerce, hotels, and other businesses in the community.
  • Oversee production and roll-out of seasonal event brochures and supporting documents.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, Event Planning or related field preferred; at least 3-5 years of experience organizing and managing events in a restaurant or hotel operation required.
  • Pleasant, polite manner and neat professional appearance.
  • Demonstrate integrity in all areas, both personal and professional.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle pressure of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to restaurant problems.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills for dealing with clients, vendors, and staff.
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills to coordinate the actions of multiple parties, track, competing priorities, and respond with appropriate actions.
  • Computer skills for using event management software, Microsoft 365, e-mail, Adobe Creative Suite products.
  • Knowledge of risk management to identify potential legal liabilities and take steps to mitigate them.
  • Strong networking skills to build relationships with vendors and suppliers and attract new customers.
  • Work under limited supervision; strong project management skills required.
